SHADOWS SERIES Photographs
A shadow is a dark (real image) area where light from a light source is blocked by an opaque object. It occupies all of the three-dimensional volume behind an object with light in front of it. The cross section of a shadow is a two-dimensional silhouette, or a reverse projection of the object blocking the light.
I remember very well my first impression of sunlight in Israel. The position of the moon in the Israeli night sky simply enchanted people who came from the north of Russia.
I came to Jerusalem from St. Petersburg. Long Jerusalem shadows still “mesmerize” me. I tried to convey this feeling in my photographic works from the Shadows series.
